Flora Fauna Project: The River 2019/2020

Our aim at D-Light Studios is to support and provide opportunities for our community in creative ways. We are proud supporters of Flora Fauna Project which has been a wonderful addition to our programme and has created meaningful relationships with members of the local community that we hope to continue to build on for years to come.

Flora Fauna Project is a collaborative, socially engaged dance and music platform led by Maria Nilsson Waller and Stace Gill.

The River, the most recent Flora Fauna Project offering, culminated in a large scale dance piece performed by a group of women from Sheriff Street and Ballybough.

The women were initially brought together by Michael Darragh MacAuley, the Dublin GAA player who was working with women’s football teams in the area.

This core group of 17 women includes a mother and a daughter, women in their 20s and in their 70s. The group joined forces with Flora Fauna Project to express their lives and experiences in music and movement.

Over a period of six months in 2019/2020, the group took part in an evolving contemporary dance training programme that culminated in a two-night performance in the Project Arts Centre.

If you are a dancer, artist or creative community worker head over to www.florafaunaproject.com and check out their brand new paid open call opportunity, ROOM. Submission deadline: October 1st.
