D-Light Residency Award 2022
Conan McIvor
We are delighted to announce that the recipient of this years D-Light Studios Residency Award is Conan McIvor.
During his time working in a dedicated studio space Conan will be developing his project, Sissy.
“Sissy” is an interdisciplinary installation project by video artist and filmmaker Conan McIvor that will build upon his previous work “The Estate” by focusing on young men growing up in Dublin’s North East during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project will use community outreach and engagement to explore issues, ideas, and perspectives surrounding body image, emotional relationships, attitudes to sexuality and gender, and how these might have become magnified through a contemporary social media lens.

Studio space for artists in our city is becoming harder to find and even more difficult to hold on to. Arts funding can be very unstable and unfortunately our support from the NEIC and DCC for this programme has come to an end. Thanks to their generosity over the last four years, it allowed us to start something very valuable and we will continue with a lighter version while we find ways to bring the full residency back.
We have found that this programme aids the development of creative individuals and their practices while building bridges with the local community. This is at the heart of our vision and so we are committed to continuing this award independently. We will do what we can to provide a supportive platform for the arts in Dublin's North East.
